Ever since I started the Keepers of Time project at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, I’ve wanted to add another Ancient tree from that site onto the Ancient Tree Inventory.
I guess this was to make up for the couple that I had removed (not physically, they were just false entries).
On 24th January 2026, I led an Ancient and Veteran Tree Walk at YSP. One of the objectives was to document the Pedunculate oak tree that I was convinced should be reclassified as Ancient rather than Veteran.
With new evidence, I contacted the people managing the Woodlands Trust’s Ancient Tree Inventory, and they agree with me. This tree is now officially Ancient!
