These paintings were from a series I did a few summers ago whilst travelling about.

I used to take with me a small A5 cardboard book that my mother gave me. And when I say cardboard book I mean all the pages were cardboard. She used to get them off Goole Market. I believe someone used to make them out of scrap and sold them for a few pence.

It was easy to carry around with a small box of oil paints. I used to find a place to sit and just paint.

These scenes are from Canon Hall – Barnsley, Falmouth and Bretton Hall – Wakefield.
