In 2016 I worked for Faceless Arts with communities along the Dearne Valley, South Yorkshire exploring stories and landmarks that make their places special. Mixing geological features and landmarks with participants’ drawings I aimed to create a sense of place with designs that hoped to capture the spirit of each location. The designs were completed in community silk painting workshops. Each painting is 1m square. I use the square format in reference to the Empty Square project that is an on going thread of work. (Please see the Empty Square blog for more information)
