Thanks to funding from Creative Wakefield I will be delivering the following free activity as part of the Together and Apart exhibition. There are only 6 places!
Walk and Sketch: Exploring Wakefield with Tony Wade – Saturday 19th June, 1pm – 5.30pm
Join Wakefield artist Tony Wade to explore Wakefield and reflect on our changing relationship with places during the pandemic.
During lockdown Tony painted and documented places in Wakefield that are often seen but seldom noticed. Join Tony for a short walking and sketching exploration where, together, we will document what we find. No previous drawing experience is necessary.
The walk will end at the Together & Apart exhibition at the former Market Hall where we will bring all our work together to create a unique installation, mapping our findings.
This creative session is open to all, with limited places due to ongoing Covid restrictions. The session will provide an opportunity to explore key vistas and places of Wakefield, and a chance to document your findings. During a year where we have all spent more time closer to home, this walk and sketch activity will provide a chance to reflect and creatively document your connections to places. The session will also include a guided tour around the 40 paintings included in Tony’s installation A Place for Places.
Email creativewakefield@wakefield.gov.uk to book a space today. All equipment will be provided.
The exhibition is in the former Wakefield Market Hall and runs from the 10th to 20th June 10am to 4pm.
