About the exhibition

This installation in the Redbox Gallery, Horbury, celebrates work created by adults with Learning Disabilities and/or autism and highlights careers in Learning Disability Nursing.

The screen shows films made by CoActive Arts, alongside information about careers in Learning Disability Nursing. CoActive Arts run weekly sessions in The Ridings Shopping Centre, Wakefield, where artists with and without learning disabilities co-create dance, drama and visual arts. 

The artwork ‘TOGETHER’ was made by people attending Day Opportunities. The day opportunities service supports individuals and learning disabilities and/or autism and other complex physical health needs to develop their skills to become more independent.

About the Redbox Gallery

The classic K6 telephone box on Queen Street, Horbury was purchased from BT by Horbury Civic Society in 2018. It has been re-painted, re-glazed and re-purposed as an art space.
