I am very pleased to say that 6 of my paintings of the Hepworth Wakefield garden are part of a group exhibition in the Hepworth Wakefield cafe, which opens on 7th April 2022 and runs throughout the summer.
These are the paintings. The first ones were started just as the first lockdown ended in June 2020.
The garden became a favorite destination as I could finally paint outdoors again. These paintings were not sketched or planned as such and were primarily done for my own pleasure.
I would start by painting a plant that caught my eyes and then construct the view around it. None of the paintings are of a particular scene, rather they are an attempt to recreate how the garden made me feel.
