In June 2022 I was successful in my application for the Long Division Artistic Commission.
The Music Boxes consisted of 28th illuminated lanterns, created from repurposed CD cases, suspended from a Sycamore Tree outside Westgate Chapel in Wakefield.
The patterns and imagery contained within the lanterns are inspired by the graphic scores of John Cage, Cornelius Cardrew and Brian Eno, amongst others, and show different ways sounds and music can be represented visually.
The lanterns were created during public workshops, supported by Wakefield City of Sanctuary, at The Art House on Saturday 4th June 2022
The Music Boxes were illuminated between dusk and 10pm on 10th, 11th and 12th June
